ZAMBAITI COTTON MILL:
EFFECTIVE PROGRAMMING AND PROCESS PLANNING
FOR ENERGY OPTIMIZATION
The latest innovations in innovation and technology implemented
from Cotonificio Zambaiti
Cotonificio Zambaiti, a company active in the Italian textile industry for over fifty years and based in
Bergamo has recently strengthened its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Known for
Being a leader in the home textile industry, the company has continued to distinguish itself through
the adoption of pioneering projects, such as the use of semi-finished recycled PET products for padding.
In a recent initiative, to follow up this innovative momentum, Cotonificio Zambaiti has
collaborated with Baumer to integrate advanced encoders into production processes, modernizing the
its industrial machines. A handshake that has improved production efficiency and has
consolidated the company's role in the vanguard of Industry 5.0. In parallel, the company has
revised its management system (ERP), purchased new machinery compatible with 4.0 technologies
and sensorized the older ones to optimize the management and monitoring of resources.
The contribution of partners such as Zepoch Sagl, DeNani srl and IotaLab srl proved crucial
in the integration of advanced sensors and specific hardware, as well as in the development of software for
monitoring and production progress built internally. These are improvements
which encompass every phase of production, from finishing to dyeing, printing and...
cutting of fabrics, with a particular focus on energy saving and optimization of consumption.
Another pillar of the project was the implementation of a 1 MW photovoltaic system and a
294 kWh storage system, which allowed the company to reach a level of
self-consumption of the 83%, reducing dependence on the electricity grid and increasing independence
energy.
The objective was a detailed analysis of production costs for more accurate management
expenses and working times, scheduled based on peaks in energy consumption. This approach
contributed to greater efficiency and a reduction in emissions, making profits for the
project first place in the Lombardy Region's call for energy independence and
reduction of emissions.
All these developments promote sustainable practices and innovations that reflect new ones
needs of the Italian textile market, as confirmed by Leonardo Zambaiti, information
technology & software developer consultant from Cotonificio Zambaiti, who explains that “Assembly
of advanced sensors on pre-existing machinery allows us to precisely monitor consumption and
of production progress. At the same time, we developed software internally
customized, in collaboration with the companies Zepoch and Denani, capable of adapting perfectly
to company needs and dynamics. Finally – he continues – the integrated approach to the revision of
management system (ERP) allowed detailed control of cost items at the production level,
orienting programming towards a logic of sustainability and energy optimization.”
Leonardo Zambaiti will present these latest innovations on July 5, 2024 with a speech
which will be held during the Brescia stage of Fabbrica Futuro, the multi-channel project of the house
ESTE publisher and its magazine Sistemi & Impresa which has been reporting and analyzing the
main manufacturing issues with local companies.
“We invite you next July 5th to the Fabbrica del Futuro event in Brescia, to discover
all the latest innovative trends from Zambaiti – comments Leonardo Zambaiti – “it will be an opportunity
unique to immerse yourself in the world of new trends and technologies that are shaping the future
of the textile industry.” – concludes Zambaiti.
